There is a famous saying, “Don’t judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes.” Each of us has our own path to explore at a customized pace. On a deeper level, more is unfolding in terms of learning, exploring, and understanding. Each person has their own perspective of the outside world as a complete reflection of their own inner world (or reality). The only changing variable from one person to another is what we label as life.
Think about the last time you read an article online, and a friend made a negative or angry comment. Your reaction may have been completely different; perhaps even positive. A majority feel they live in a world (which is the same place that we physically live in now), where life is happening to them rather than being created for them. It is easy to understand why these individuals are cycling in a victim mentality. “People are doing things to me. I don’t have control over this event.” These statements are well observed where the blaming of the outside world stirs up negative emotions in our inner world. The single best characteristic we all have as human beings is our ability to empower ourselves. Emotions don’t define us. They are teaching tools to help us learn from and overcome these lessons in life. Remember that a little bit of adversity in our lives is a good thing.
This certainly can be applied to many facets of life. Take a workout routine – you are stressing your muscles and body in order to make impactful healthy gains. Or enrolling in college prep courses (often a stressful time for teenagers) – it’s not what you memorize or study, but how you apply it to your surroundings and life circumstances. Our higher persepctive makes us appreciate what we have today.
Our emotions often take a toll on our physical body making us stressed out, fatigued, fearful, etc. – all of this temporary. The conflicts that we experience in the same reality is what we have control over based on our perceptive and experiences. All fear and stress feels extremely horrible; yet with practice and training you realize you can train your mind to be better prepared and focused which calms your body. The practice can be extended to all aspects of our life that are challenging. Again, when you look at life through a different lens you turn the attention inward to lift up your spirit, perspective, and confidence.
