Are you an analytical or emotional creature? More than half of you reading this enjoy the stats and evidence because we live in an age of digital information. Yet we are still human – not machine. That is why we need to start thinking with our heart; not our brain.
Research shows the heart sends out 60 times more electrical activity than our brains. More evidence directs us to how the heart actually controls the brain.
- The heart is referenced as the “little brain” (a.k.a neurocardiology) with 40,000 sensory neurons that relay information to the brain.
- The heart talks to the brain via the nervous system, hormones it directly produces, biomechanical information (blood pressure waves) and energetic information (electromagnetic fields).
- More data is sent from the heart to the brain daily. This is how the heart learns, remembers, and makes decisions independently of the cerebral cortex. (Call it a gut feeling or intuition?)
- The heart emits an electrical field 60 times greater (in amplitude).
- The heart’s electromagnetic field is 5,000 times stronger than the brain.
- Activity in one person’s heart can be measured in brain waves of another person. When you touch your pet or hold your friend’s hand, the act of touch (call it healing therapies) has been measured scientifically.
- The electrical activity of the heart and brain can be synced – state of “coherence” associated with higher level functioning, lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels and improved immune system function.
Use your gut feelings and start listening. Your mind needs a bit more time to accept what your heart already knows. Blow your mind by opening your heart.
